A message from Esther: My heart is heavy and so sad as I announce the passing of my friend and mentor Phil Werdell. Phil was a true pioneer and father to the food addiction profession. His deep understanding and devotion to food addiction set the tone for recovery practices that have and continue to save numerous people's lives. His brilliance, intellect, and spiritual depth resulted in him writing numerous books and lecturing on the subject.   But his legacy I believe lies in the lives that he saved and guided through their depth of food addiction into recovery.   I send Mary Foushi, his wife, and other family members my condolences.  My heart goes out to you in this time of mourning.   Dear Phil, may you rest in peace. You've given the world a gift no one else could give. With lots of love, Esther Helga Gudmundsdottir
